The North East's Notting Hill
Looking
for a great day out? And you fancy escaping the madness of the High Street
crowds? We know just the place.
The Westgate Hill area or recently named the Discovery Quarter has a long
and colourful history.
Taking its name from its proximity to the West Gate of the old city, Westgate
Road follows the line of Hadrian's Wall and during the Industrial Revolution
became the place to live for Newcastle's rich merchants and gentry.
Today Westgate Hill, known as 'The Hill', is home to a thriving business
community and is a Mecca for Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the
world.
The Hill is home to 30 motorcycle or motorcycle-related shops, and several
places to eat; you will find friendly regulars and lots of new faces visit
the Hill every weekend.
Stroll around the surrounding area and you'll find attractions such as
the Discovery Museum, Centre for Life, China Town, and the Telewest Arena.
Visit on a weekend and you'd think you had stumbled upon a smaller version
of London's Camden or Notting Hill.
With so much going on, it's hard to decide what to do first.
